FLIERS / 1980s

I played in a number of No Wave and improvised bands in the 1980s: You Rang, Bump, Broken Box and The Same. I designed some of the fliers that advertised our shows; others were designed by other bands on the bill. It was all part of the “No Wave” concept that extended to any medium. You didn’t need to have professional training to play music or to design a flier. It was a great time. Free and creative, unencumbered by rules or convention.
We would go out late at night and plaster them around town. Poles, lampposts, construction sites, walls, fences, or any available surface was thick with posters and fliers, one on top of the other. It was beautiful.
I also designed some record and CD covers. May as well throw those in as well.
